About the Programs

Beginning this summer and fall, Advanced Manufacturing, Software Development, and Biotechnology training programs will begin and last between five and six months. Upon graduation students can earn $17-$28 per hour (oftentimes with benefits like health insurance) and will have little-to-no debt for students.

Advanced Manufacturing

Advanced Manufacturing is driven by technology, mechanical and electronic know-how, tools, and equipment that has evolved this industry. This use of technology has been described as advanced, innovative, and cutting edge. The top industries hiring skilled workers are in construction, transportation, and manufacturing. Across the Kansas City region, the average starting wage for this skilled employee is $21-$26 per hour.

Software Development

Software Development focusses on creating and modifying general computer applications software or specialized utility programs and analyze user needs to develop software solutions. For an entry-level position with Skilled KC certificate training, students can expect to earn $24-$28 per hour.

The industry of biotechnology is a major economic driver with various career paths for students to pursue. Companies are adding thousands of jobs per year in the Kansas City region and a variety of settings such as government agencies, clinical laboratories, and private companies. Skilled KC will offer an opportunity to earn a Biotechnology Lab Technician certification in just five months and can earn $17-$21 per hour.
