Yolanda Waldon Chief Student Officer of Skilled KC, Skilled KC Technical Institute Yolanda Waldon is chief student officer for Skilled KC Technical Institute, where she provides the strategic vision and leadership in planning, development, administration, implementation, and evaluation of processes, tools, and support systems that foster positive student development within a student-centered learning environment. Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Waldon was a postsecondary retention specialist for Kauffman Scholars, Inc. (KSI), where she managed 50+ institutions of higher education, led the peer mentorship program across three campuses, and integrated social work theory into a cohort-specific coaching and retention model focused on KSI scholarship eligibility and college matriculation. Earlier, Waldon served as an assistant director of multicultural student recruitment and retention at the University of Central Missouri and also worked at the University of Missouri – Kansas City’s Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. She also served as the director of the early college program for the Afrikan Centered Education Collegium Campus. Waldon volunteers with the Concerned Mothers of High Aspirations and is an education coordinator for the Life Line Youth Ministry Harvest Church. Additionally, Waldon is a member of the Central Exchange Emerging Leaders, and she graduated from Surge Academy as part of the inaugural class. Waldon earned a Master of Arts in urban education and leadership with an emphasis in higher education administration from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Central Missouri.
