Willie Flaherty

Willie Flaherty is a software developer instructor for Skilled KC Technical Institute, where he teaches in both classroom and laboratory settings using a hands-on approach to demonstrate competencies desired by industry.

Prior to joining Skilled KC, Flaherty was a software engineer II for Garmin International, where he developed embedded software in C for Garmin’s Integrated Flight Deck, as well as developed APIs on top of custom communication protocols to connect various cockpit components. Earlier, Flaherty was a software engineer, UI developer, and product design for PTLink, Inc., where he co-won a venture fund startup competition from the University of Tennessee’s Boyd Venture Fund. Flaherty is a main contributor of the newly revived Strawberry Shortcake neighborhood newsletter in Strawberry Hill, Kansas City, Kansas. He also volunteers with Kansas City Women in Technology to help with their DjangoGirls workshop.

Flaherty has a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering from the University of Tennessee.
